TL;DR Murata announced on October 29, 2026 that mass production has begun for its MM8330-2600RJ5 and MM8330-2600RK20 switched RF coaxial connectors. Each part measures 1.0 mm × 1.0 mm × 0.55 mm and supports DC to 15 GHz at a nominal 50 Ω, but the dedicated probes that enable the smallest stated test keep-out are only scheduled for mass production in December 2026. Buyers should therefore release the connector footprint and the production test method together, not as separate decisions.
What changed on October 29
Murata says the new SWL series reduces connector mounting area by approximately 40% compared with its previous SWJ series. When the SWL connector is used with Murata’s dedicated automatic or manual probe, the company says the occupied area including measurement keep-out is approximately 60% smaller than the prior SWJ setup.
Those are manufacturer-specific comparisons, not universal PCB area savings. Murata’s world’s-smallest description is also explicitly based on its own research as of October 28, 2026. The announcement does not provide a project-specific price, distributor stock level, lead time or proof of finished-board RF performance.
Why the probe schedule matters
The connector and the measurement system do not have the same production date. Murata reports that the two connector order codes are already in mass production, while dedicated probes are scheduled to enter mass production in December 2026. A design that depends on the 60% occupied-area reduction may therefore be electrically routable before its intended production test setup is commercially ready.
For a PCB or PCBA buyer, the practical issue is not only whether the component fits. The released layout must also preserve the controlled transmission path, ground structure, probe approach and repeatable access needed for RF measurement. Reducing the connector footprint without approving the probe and fixture plan can move risk from board area into test readiness.
What buyers should lock before release
First, freeze the complete connector MPN, current manufacturer drawing, recommended land pattern and keep-out in the controlled BOM and PCB files. Do not scale a previous SWJ footprint or infer interchangeability from the new dimensions.
Second, obtain separate supply evidence for the connector and the required manual or automatic probe. Record sample or production status, quantity, region, reservation validity and the date when the test fixture must be available. Murata’s mass-production statement is not proof of stock or lead time for a specific order.
Third, approve the RF and manufacturing evidence before the compact layout becomes the production baseline. Define the measurement frequency, acceptance limits, probe access, fixture ownership, assembly requirements and pilot-build results. Any board-area benefit should be confirmed on the actual layout rather than copied from Murata’s comparison with its previous connector family.
Where JETFGO’s public pages fit
JETFGO’s High Frequency PCB page describes project-specific review of RF materials, stack-up, impedance targets and manufacturing feasibility. Its PCB Assembly page describes review of Gerber data, BOM, placement files, assembly drawings and test requirements before production. These public pages provide relevant review routes, but they do not state stock, assembly qualification or RF test capability for the Murata SWL series; the exact project still requires engineering confirmation.
Bottom line
Murata’s 1.0 mm SWL connector creates a credible option for shrinking an RF test point, and mass production of the connector has started. The buyer decision should remain conditional until the exact connector, dedicated probe, layout rules and production test plan are all available and approved for the same build.
